"All my days I grew up among the sages and did not find anything better for the body than silence"— Pirkei Avot 1:17.
Life’s biggest luxury is silence.
The luxury of stillness. Of calm. Peace. Solitude.
The luxury to know ourselves. To find comfort, familiarity, appreciation, love.
The luxury of thought. To clarify, to discern, to filter, and then to cherish them.
The luxury to let our minds wander. To allow our imaginations to flow freely, creatively. To find solutions and
The luxury of pause, of breathing. To seek serenity, to find it in us all along and in every day.
The luxury to know others. To understand their words and their tone. To allow our souls to commingle in a dialogue of divinity.
The luxury to spend time with G-d. To contemplate Him and to engage with Him. To "hear the sound of transcendence" (Rabbi Sacks a”h).
The luxury to receive G-d’s insights; to dream, to desire. To want.
The luxury to empty ourselves so we can refill ourselves.
The luxury to be without so we can be with.
